Long Island Teen Charged With Knifepoint Attempted Robbery

A 43-year-old man was walking on Merrick Road and Milburn Avenue Monday, July 1 at 10 a.m. when he was reportedly approached by the teenager from Freeport who displayed a black-handled knife and demanded money, said Nassau County Police.

The victim did not comply and called the police, according to the report.

First Precinct officers responded, finding the teen at the scene, and arrested him without further incident, said police. 

There were no reported injuries, according to police

The teen was charged with first-degree attempted robbery and second-degree menacing. 

He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on Tuesday, July 2
